Francisco Pizarro(1471-1541) was a Spanish explorer and conquistador who conquered the Inca empire. Pizarro was apart of Vasco Nunez de Balboa's journey to the Isthmus of Panama. During their journey they discovered the Pacific Ocean. When returning to Spain, Pizarro managed to receive an order from the king to conquer the southern territory and establish new Spanish lands. In 1532 Pizarro overthrew the Inca empire and king. They captured Peru for Spain and three years later established the city, Lima. After disagreements with the conquistadors who originally captured Peru they were split into two factions.
